Beechfield United Football Club was established in 1980 by the late Barry Salisbury and Colin Roden. The name originates from the Beechfield Housing Estate in Swinton, Greater Manchester, where the first games were played. The first team to carry the Beechfield name was an Under 15's team who played in the now defunct Worsley and District League.

The Club moved to Beech Farm Playing Fields in Swinton, its current home in 1982. In 2003 Beechfield became an FA Charter Standard Development Club.

The Club has 26 teams ranging from Under 7s to Open Age, with teams play in 5 different leagues. The Club has in the region of 270 registered players, and 190 of those play in the Junior and Mini-Soccer Sections.
